Been Busy Doing Things

The Douro Valley

To get a final glimpse of the sun, I went sailing up the Douro from the lovely old fortified wine town of Porto, and on to one of Europe’s oldest university towns, Salamanca, where the soft late autumn light casts a warm honeyed glow on its mediaeval buildings.

Quill penOn the lazy journey upriver, I made some progress with The Book. The axes of the conflicts have been mapped, and the storyboards for each chapter are  ready.

It’s the thinking about it all that gives such pleasure, but now the hard work begins.

POP, BANG, WHIZZ

November was very busy with parties: my birthday, class reunions, retirement do’s, and in honour of all our American friends, Thanksgiving.

Oh, and my gizmo has arrived from China.

It’s a very light Norwegian-designed writing pad on which you scribble ideas with a stylo. Hours of fun and distraction as I learn to use it, and hook it up to the WiFi.

December looks busy: time for writing, reading and learning the gizmo. And, of course, it’s Christmas soon, so all those many jobs to be done to prepare for it.

Busy, busy, busy, as ever.

Happy Christmas and enjoy the day, and I’ll update you on The Book next time…
